Tuition Assistance

Our families choose a Catholic school because they feel the long term benefits of a Catholic education far exceeds the cost of tuition.  There are a wide variety of financial aid options available to those in need which include Parish, public and private scholarships.

Please contact your local Catholic school to discuss which specific scholarships, payment plans and financial aid are available for you.  By contacting the school, you may discover they offer a Parishioner grant, Multiple Child grant, script, and/or other tuition assistance programs.  Click on the above links to learn about the NOSF and State of Ohio scholarships.  Come see why so many families are choosing to enroll their child in a learning environment filled with Faith, Knowledge and Service.

The Northwest Ohio Scholarship Fund, Inc. was established in 1999 to create a permanent source of tuition assistance for area families seeking a choice in education for their children.

A privately funded scholarship, the Northwest Ohio Scholarship Fund provides tuition assistance to help low-income children attend the non-public school of their choice. These scholarships are funded exclusively through the private donations of individuals, corporations, and foundations.

Scholarships are available to students who will be in kindergarten through eighth grade for the 2017-2018 school year.  These recipients must reside in Allen, Crawford, Defiance, Erie, Fulton, Hancock, Henry, Huron, Lucas, Ottawa, Paulding, Putnam, Richland, Sandusky, Seneca, Van Wert, Williams, Wood, and Wyandot counties. The guidelines for eligibility generally follow the federal free or reduced school lunch program.

Each scholarship is based on individual family size and income, with a maximum scholarship of $1,500 per child for elementary students. Income information is re-evaluated each year with the scholarship amount adjusted accordingly.

Expectations of recipient families are reasonable. They must complete the scholarship application process, stay current on necessary paperwork, and make an annual family contribution of a minimum of $500.00 towards tuition. In this way parents become active participants in their educational choice.

Currently 67 schools are recipient schools. Many are religious-based schools with 67% being Catholic schools.  Montessori schools and other independent schools are included. Home schooling is even an option.

The Northwest Ohio Scholarship Fund is a local program working in partnership with the Children’s Scholarship Fund, a national school choice initiative founded by Ted Forstmann and John Walton in 1999 to match funds raised locally throughout the country. The Children’s Scholarship Fund has provided over $3.9 million in matching funds, enabling NOSF to expand its mission throughout the community.

The Diocese of Toledo is committed to support Catholic education and the community of faith that form our schools that are truly “different by design.”  As part of that commitment, “One Faith, Many Blessings” tuition assistance funds are available to families with children enrolled in Catholic schools. The scholarship funds are distributed annually to Catholic schools within the Diocese of Toledo.  Each school awards the funds to their students who demonstrate need. If you are the parent or guardian of a Catholic school student and are interested in being considered for the “One Faith, Many Blessings” fund, please contact your local Catholic school directly for more information.
