Decree Concerning “Our Lady of the Tear of Joy”

Please see the attached decree from the Archbishop of Cincinnati, Most Reverend Dennis M. Schnurr regarding “Our Lady of the Tear of Joy.” This is an alleged apparition of our Lady that has not been examined or judged under the Norms Regarding the Manner of Proceeding in the Discernment of Presumed Apparitions and Revelations by the Congregation of the Doctrine of the Faith.  Therefore, “it is not permitted to have any public or private manifestation of cult or of devotion to “Our Lady” unless or until an examination takes place and the results are favorable.

Please note that while the alleged apparition took place in the Archdiocese of Cincinnati, the “headquarters” is said to be in the Diocese of Toledo, and caution should be exercised in associating with or promoting the cause of “Our Lady of the Tear of Joy.”   In order to avoid any scandal or wonderment to the faithful in our diocese,  any involvement with or support of this alleged apparition/devotion is forbidden.
