Bishop Thomas to ordain three men to the priesthood June 25 at Rosary Cathedral

Bishop Daniel E. Thomas will ordain three men to the priesthood for the Diocese of Toledo. The Rite of Ordination will take place at 11 a.m. Saturday, June 25 at Our Lady, Queen of the Most Holy Rosary Cathedral (2535 Collingwood Boulevard, Toledo).

Those being ordained are Rev. Mr. Austin A. Ammanniti, Rev. Mr. David D. Kidd and Rev. Mr. Jeffrey J. Smith.

Deacon Ammanniti is from Immaculate Conception Parish in Bellevue. He is a 2006 graduate of Bellevue High School and went on to earn a Bachelor's degree in Philosophy (Magna Cum Laude) in 2011 from the Pontifical College Josephinum in Columbus and a Bachelor's degree in Sacred Theology in 2015 from the Pontifical Gregorian University in Rome. Deacon Ammanniti is currently studying for a Licentiate in Sacred Theology at the Pontifical Lateran University in Rome, where he will return later this year after being ordained a priest. He served his pastoral internship at Saint Michael the Archangel Parish in Findlay, and his summer assignments have included work at Catholic Charities Diocese of Toledo, Mercy Health St. Vincent Medical Center in Toledo, Saint Mary Mother of the Redeemer Parish in Norwalk, Saint Anthony of Padua Parish in Milan and the Maryknoll Fathers and Brothers China Region.

Deacon Kidd is from Saint Charles Borromeo Parish in Lima. He is a 2005 graduate of Lima Central Catholic High School and went on to earn a Bachelor's degree in Philosophy in 2011 from the Pontifical College Josephinum in Columbus and a Bachelor's degree in Sacred Theology in 2015 from the Pontifical Gregorian University in Rome. Deacon Kidd is currently studying for a Licentiate in Sacred Theology at the Pontifical Gregorian University in Rome, where he will return later this year after being ordained a priest. He served his pastoral internship at Saint Paul the Apostle Parish in Norwalk, and his summer assignments have included work at Catholic Charities Diocese of Toledo, Mercy Health St. Vincent Medical Center, Saint Joseph Parish in Crestline, Sacred Heart of Jesus Parish in Bethlehem and Our Lady of Lourdes Parish in Tanzania.

Deacon Smith is from Saint Mary Parish in Tiffin. He is a 2004 graduate of Hopewell-Loudon High School and went on to earn a Bachelor's degree in Philosophy in 2011 from the Pontifical College Josephinum in Columbus and a Master of Divinity degree this year from Mount St. Mary's Seminary in Cincinnati. He served his pastoral internship at Saint Rose of Lima Parish in Perrysburg, and his summer assignments have included work at Mercy Health St. Vincent Medical Center in Toledo, Saint Bernard Parish in New Washington, Saint Francis Xavier Parish in Willard and the Institute for Priestly Formation in Omaha, Neb.

Each of the newly ordained priests will be assigned to a parish in the Diocese of Toledo, where they will serve as parochial vicars. A parochial vicar is the canonical term for a priest appointed by the Bishop to assist the pastor of a parish.
