The National Association of Diaconate Directors (NADD) installed new officers and board members as part of the association’s annual meeting last month in Houston.
Deacon James Caruso was installed as the representative for Region VI. Deacon Caruso is the general counsel and delegate for permanent deacons for the Diocese of Toledo. He was ordained in 2006 and is a deacon at Our Lady, Queen of the Most Holy Rosary Cathedral in Toledo.
The NADD Board of Directors is comprised of 18 persons; one representative from each of the 14 USCCB regions plus three officers and the executive director.
NADD serves formation directors, deacon directors, vicars for deacons and other diocesan personnel who are responsible to their bishops for the formation of deacon candidates and the continued professional development and education of deacons following ordination.
The Association takes a leadership role relating to national and regional issues of the diaconate and it serves as a consultant to the USCCB Committee on Clergy, Consecrated Life and Vocations. In addition to the annual convention NADD promotes leadership through the National Directory Institute and Ministry and Life Institute, regional meetings, research, newsletters and consultative teams to evaluate formation programs at the request of the ordinary.
