Death of a Senior Status Priest
Rev. James E. Risacher, a senior status priest of the Diocese of Toledo, died on the night of Tuesday, November 11, at Rosary Care Center. Fr. Risacher celebrated his 98th birthday this past Saturday, November 8.
A native of St. Peter Parish, Mansfield, Fr. Risacher was ordained to the priesthood on May 31, 1952, by Most Rev. George J. Rehring. Throughout his years of priestly ministry, he served as pastor of four parishes and devoted ten years as Secretary to the Bishop.
Fr. Risacher was granted Senior Status in June 1992 and subsequently retired out of state. In recent years, he returned to the Diocese of Toledo and resided at Rosary Care Center.
In accordance with his wishes, Fr. Risacher’s body has been donated to science. A Memorial Mass will be celebrated with his remains at a later date.
