Diocese of Toledo to Celebrate Transitional Diaconate and Priesthood Ordinations

The Diocese of Toledo joyfully invites the faithful to two upcoming ordinations this spring and summer, as Bishop Daniel E. Thomas calls two seminarians to Holy Orders.

On Saturday, May 16, 2026, at 10:00 a.m., Evan Sekerak will be ordained to the Transitional Diaconate at Our Lady, Queen of the Most Holy Rosary Cathedral in Toledo. A member of St. Aloysius Parish in Bowling Green, Evan has been preparing for the priesthood at Mount Saint Mary’s Seminary and School of Theology in Cincinnati. As a transitional deacon, he will enter more fully into a life of service to the Church as he continues his formation toward priesthood.

Later in the summer, on Saturday, June 27, 2026, at 10:00 a.m., Deacon Andrew Messer will be ordained to the Priesthood at St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church in Toledo. A native of St. Joan of Arc Parish, Andrew has studied for the priesthood at the Pontifical North American College in Rome. His ordination marks the culmination of years of discernment, study, and pastoral formation as he prepares to begin his ministry as a priest in the Diocese of Toledo.

All are welcome to attend these joyful celebrations of faith and vocation. Both ordinations will also be live-streamed for those unable to be present in person. The live-stream can be accessed at toledopriesthood.org.

Please join in praying for Evan Sekerak and Deacon Andrew Messer as they take these important steps in their vocations and offer their lives in service to Christ and His Church.
