As a response to Pope Francis’ call to be merciful towards immigrants and refugees through prayer, advocacy and education, the Diocese of Toledo Office of Intercultural Ministries is hosting a Holy Mass for the Preservation of Peace and Justice.
The Mass is at 10 a.m. Saturday, April 8, at Our Lady, Queen of the Most Holy Rosary Cathedral (2535 Collingwood Blvd., Toledo). All are welcome.
After Mass, experts in immigration and Catholic social teaching will give a brief presentation explaining the principles of the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops (USCCB) Justice for Immigrants campaign.
"Our hope is that the Holy Mass can bring us all to prayerfully ask God for mercy and compassion in these difficult times for our immigrants and refugees, as well as educating our local Church in the richness of the documents of the Church in regards of Catholic Social Teaching on this regard,” said Carlos Castaneda, director of intercultural ministries for the Diocese of Toledo. “After a few months of the closing the Year of Mercy, this becomes a great opportunity to bring the merciful and compassionate approach the Church asks from us to face these issues in our diocese and across our entire nation."
