Diocese Pilgrimage, Day 8, Orvieto, Italy

Lord, increase our Eucharistic Faith! On Tuesday our Pilgrimage brought us to the hilltop town of Orvieto, whose extraordinary Gothic Cathedral, with its unmatched facade, houses the relic of the Eucharistic miracle of Bolsena. We were privileged to view and pray before the corporal, as well as the relic of St Luke, as we celebrated Mass for the Feast of St Luke! We toured and prayed in the Cathedral, moved by and meditating on the powerful frescoes in the Signorelli Chapel. The Cathedral in itself is a visual catechism! After walking through the town and stopping for pranzo, we made our way by funicular back down the mountain to journey to our final destination, Rome! How poignant it was today to take as our general prayer intention an increased understanding of, love for, and living out of the Eucharist! May it be so for all of us as we join our prayers on this pilgrimage!
