Palm Sunday of the Passion of the Lord
Palm Sunday commemorates Jesus’ triumphal entry into Jerusalem and the Proclamation of the Passion, and marks the beginning of Holy Week.

Chrism Mass
All diocesan priests, as well as priests of religious communities serving in the Diocese of Toledo, are gathered to concelebrate with the Bishop and to renew their priestly promises. During this Mass, Bishop Thomas will bless the Oil of the catechumens and the Oil of the Sick as well as consecrate the Oil of the Sacred Chrism. These holy oils will be used throughout the Diocese during the coming year in the celebration of the Sacraments

Tenebrae
Tenebrae is the Latin term for ‘darkness,’ refers to the darkness held in the heart of the church during the days and hours of our Lord’s Passion and Death. This service of prayer incorporates hymns, prayers, a homily and the chanting of the Lamentations.

Thursday of the Lord’s Supper (Holy Thursday)
This Mass commemorates the Last Supper, during which Christ instituted the Sacrament of the Holy Eucharist, the Sacrament of Holy Orders and gave us His commandment to love one another. After the homily, following the example of Christ who washed the feet of the Apostles at the Last Supper, Bishop Thomas will wash the feet of various individuals.

Friday of the Passion of the Lord (Good Friday)
The Solemn Liturgy of the Lord’s Passion, commemorates the Holy Passion and Death of Jesus Christ. The traditional Adoration of the Cross will take place during the Liturgy.

The Easter Vigil in the Holy Night
The Easter Vigil contains four components: Service of Light (Blessing of the Fire and Lighting of the Paschal Candle), Liturgy of the Word, Liturgy of Baptism and the Liturgy of the Eucharist.
8:30 p.m. Saturday, April 20 with Bishop Daniel E. Thomas, Celebrant and Homilist
After a reflective and intense period of prayer during Lent, the Elect (those who have not been baptized) and Candidates (those who will make a profession of faith in the Catholic Church and receive the Sacraments of Confirmation and Eucharist) will become full members of the Catholic Church. These Sacraments of Initiation are celebrated at parishes throughout the Diocese on this night.
Easter Sunday of the Resurrection of the Lord
On this day of days, we offer Holy Mass as a joyful sacrifice of praise to the Father who raised his Son from thedead!
