After more than 40 years of consecutive service in Catholic education, Mrs. Teresa Richardson has agreed to serve as Interim Senior Director for the Department of Catholic Education for the Diocese of Toledo, effective immediately.
Mrs. Richardson has 22 years of experience as a Principal of Diocesan schools, including stops at Rossford All Saints Catholic School (2004-2010), Toledo Christ the King School (1994-2004) and Toledo St. Joan of Arc School (1988-1994). Following her retirement as a Catholic School Principal, Mrs. Richardson served as a consultant to Catholic schools from 2010-12. Since 2012, she has served as an adjunct instructor with Bowling Green State University working as a University Mentor for student teachers.
A graduate of the now closed Mary Manse College in Toledo, Mrs. Richardson earned her Bachelor’s degree in Social Studies with a minor in Elementary Education in 1970. She later earned her Master’s degree and licensure in Education from the University of Dayton in 1993.
“As Interim Senior Director for the Department of Catholic Education, I look forward to working collaboratively to address the many complex issues and challenges of the world in which we live,” Mrs. Richardson said. “The Holy Spirit walks with what is, not with what was or will be. Therefore, we trust that the good works which have begun will continue.”
Mrs. Richardson fills the vacancy left by Mr. Christopher Knight, who recently began employment with the Diocese of Cleveland as Secretary for Catechetical Formation & Education/Superintendent of Schools.
“As we look forward to identifying a new full-time Senior Director for the Department of Catholic Education to succeed Mr. Christopher Knight, I am grateful that Teresa has accepted this interim position,” Bishop Daniel E. Thomas said. “She has extensive background in Catholic education and has agreed to serve as interim in guiding the day-to-day operations of the department and to assist in ensuring a smooth transition in service of our parishes and schools.”
