Nearly 700 to Enter the Church at Easter Vigil in Diocese of Toledo

Nearly 700 individuals from across the Diocese of Toledo will enter the Catholic Church at the Easter Vigil this year—an increase from approximately 625 the year prior.

Among them are about 300 catechumens, who will receive the Sacraments of Initiation, and 370 candidates, who will be received into full communion with the Church. Representing parishes throughout the Diocese’s nineteen counties, these men and women have spent months preparing for this moment and will be welcomed into the Church during Easter Vigil celebrations in their own parish communities.

This milestone was recently marked during a diocesan gathering at the Our Lady, Queen of the Most Holy Rosary Cathedral, where they were joined by sponsors, family members, clergy, and fellow parishioners.

Reflecting on their journey, Bishop Daniel E. Thomas shared: “Their faith, courage, and sincerity are truly edifying and a powerful witness to us all.”

Bishop Thomas invited the faithful to support them with prayer:

“I invite you to join me in praying for them during these sacred days. May the Lord strengthen them in grace, deepen their faith, hope and love, and grant them perseverance as faithful disciples.”

As the Diocese prepares to welcome hundreds of new Catholics, all are invited to enter deeply into these sacred days, celebrating the summit of the Christian faith together.
