New Chair of USCCB Committee on Pro-Life Activities, Bishop Daniel E. Thomas, Leads Over 200 Pilgrims to D.C. for the 2025 March for Life
Together with over 200 pilgrims from the Diocese of Toledo, Bishop Daniel E. Thomas will take part in the Annual March for Life in Washington, D.C. on Friday, January 24, 2025. Three charter buses full of pilgrims from 18 schools across the Diocese of Toledo, along with other faithful who will travel independently, will attend the March in a spirit of solidarity to pray for an end to abortion, for the protection of and respect for all human life from conception to natural death, to create a culture of life and to care for every mother and child.
This annual march now celebrates the reversal of the Roe v. Wade Supreme Court decision in 1973 which legalized abortion-on-demand in our country, even as pilgrims continue to pray in a spirit of repentant hope, recognizing that the abortion battle continues to be fought now in individual states. In light of the tragic enshrinement of abortion in Ohio’s State Constitution through the 2023 passing of Issue 1, we will continue to march until the day that every single life, born and preborn, will enjoy the fundamental right to life!
Bishop Daniel E. Thomas invites all people of good will from the Diocese of Toledo and northwest Ohio at large to join him prior to the March for Life for Holy Mass, which will be celebrated on Friday morning, January 24th, at 9:30 a.m. in the Crypt Chapel of the Basilica of the National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception, 400 Michigan Ave NE, Washington, DC 20017. Bishop Thomas will also be the principal celebrant and homilist for the Opening Mass for the National Prayer Vigil for Life, to be held in the Great Upper Church of the Basilica on the preceding evening, Thursday, January 23rd at 5:00 pm. All those who cannot attend physically are invited to participate in prayer and spirit.
Please note that the rally stage has moved and will be at the corner of 17th St. NW and Constitution Ave. NW. The Diocese of Toledo will meet at 12:00 p.m. on January 24th between the front of the rally stage and the Washington Monument. The group can be located by its four Diocese of Toledo flags as they gather to listen to the rally’s speakers.
