You are cordially invited to the 22nd Monsignor Jerome E. Schmit Youth Foundation Dinner which will be held on Thursday, February 22nd at The Pinnacle in Maumee.

During his lifetime, Monsignor Jerome Schmit was dedicated to the development and success of our youth. He was a positive role model for both youth and adults in our community and was loved by all. Through the Monsignor Jerome Schmit Youth Foundation his legacy continues to live on with all the positive programs that he began and are still flourishing today. We pledge to continue keep his memory, as well as his mission to help kids alive for many years to come, but we need your help.

Our guest speaker will be Fr. Burke Masters, author of, “A Grand Slam for God: A Journey From Baseball Star to Catholic Priest”. Fr. Burke was born and raised in Joliet, Illinois. He attended Providence Catholic High School, where he converted to Catholicism in 1985. He studied mathematics and played baseball at Mississippi State University, where he played in the College World Series in 1990. Fr. Burke was ordained a priest on June 1, 2002. He has served as the Catholic chaplain for the Chicago Cubs since 2013, including being a part of the 2016 World Series Championship. You won’t want to miss it!

Through the Monsignor Jerome Schmit Youth Foundation, scholarships are presented each year to high school students at the metro-Toledo Catholic High Schools who demonstrate a financial need, as well as keeping a solid grade point average. This fund also benefits the CYO Athletic program, the Youth, Young Adult & Campus Ministry programs, and the Catholic Club. Over the years, over $1,000,000 has been disbursed from the fund to benefit our diocesan youth.
