Statement of the Diocese of Toledo Following Bishop Daniel E. Thomas’ Election as Chairman-elect of the Committee on Pro-Life Activities for the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops

The Diocese of Toledo is pleased to announce that Bishop Daniel E. Thomas, Bishop of the Diocese, has been elected as chairman-elect of the Committee on Pro-Life Activities for the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops (USCCB). He currently serves as a member of this committee.

Bishop Thomas will serve for one year as chairman-elect of the Committee on Pro-Life Activities before beginning a three-year term as chairman of the committee at the conclusion of the Fall Plenary Assembly in November 2024.

Bishop Thomas remarked, “I am humbled that my brother bishops have elected me to serve as chairman-elect on this committee and our National Conference of Bishops. I strongly believe that to be Catholic is to be pro-life, from conception to natural death. This is an issue I am passionate about and am honored to promote the message of the Gospel of Life in this national capacity.”

This new position is in addition to his duties as Bishop of the Diocese of Toledo.
