Statement of the Diocese of Toledo Regarding the Senseless Violence in Minneapolis, Minnesota
United with all the faithful of the Diocese of Toledo, Bishop Daniel E. Thomas expresses profound sorrow and offers heartfelt prayers for the children whose lives were so tragically taken, and for all those injured and suffering from today’s horrific act of senseless violence in Minneapolis, Minnesota. We remember their grieving families, their Catholic school and parish community, and all whose hearts are broken in the face of such evil against the innocent at prayer.
That this violence occurred during the celebration of the Holy Eucharist makes the tragedy even more heinous and painful. In the midst of such darkness, we turn to the Lord who alone brings true healing and peace. We entrust the souls of the departed to God’s loving care, and we implore the merciful Lord that the wounded and grieving may know His strength and consolation.
