On Thursday, August 14 at 9:00 p.m., the faithful are invited to gather in Carey for a beautiful evening of prayer and celebration. The candlelight Rosary procession to the Shrine Park will be immediately followed by the Vigil Mass for the Solemnity of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary. Bishop Daniel E. Thomas, Bishop of Toledo, will be the principal celebrant, and Bishop John E. Stowe, OFM Conv., Bishop of Lexington, will preach the homily. The event is expected to draw thousands of pilgrims in this Jubilee Year of Hope and in celebration of the 150th anniversary of the arrival of the Miraculous Statue of Our Lady of Consolation.


Assumption Vigil Choir forming at the Shrine
The Basilica and National Shrine of Our Lady of Consolation in Carey invites area singers to join the 2025 Assumption Choir. This choir, along with a brass quintet, will lead the music for the Vigil Mass of the Assumption of Mary, in the Shrine Park on Thursday, August 14, 2025 at 9:30pm. This unique experience gives singers, ranging from amateur to professional, the opportunity to sing a wide variety of music with a short-term commitment. Rehearsals will be held from 4:00–5:45pm in the Original Shrine Church (next to the Gift Shop) on Sundays: July 27, August 3, and August 10.
As the Catholic Church celebrates the Jubilee Year of Hope and the Shrine celebrates the 150th Anniversary of the Arrival of the Miraculous Statue of Our Lady of Consolation, this year's festivities are very special and expected to draw great attendance.

Children's Choir forming at the Shrine for Novena Devotions
The Basilica and National Shrine of Our Lady of Consolation in Carey invites all area children in grades 1 through 8 to join a special choir which will sing during the Assumption Novena. This choir will lead the music at the Basilica & Shrine's Novena Devotions on Monday, August 11 at 8:00pm.

Rehearsals will be held from 12:30–1:30pm in the Original Shrine Church (next to the Gift Shop) on Sunday, August 3 and August 10. All singers are asked to attend at least one of the rehearsals.
