On Friday, October 4, the Conventual Franciscans invite all to celebrate the Solemnity of Saint Francis of Assisi, the Founder of the Three Orders. Masses will take place at 7:00am in the Original Shrine Church and 11:00am in the Upper Basilica. At the 11:00am Mass, there will be a profession of members into the Secular Franciscan Order. At 2:00pm, the Friars and all present will celebrate full Shrine Devotions which consist of Enrollment into the Confraternity of Our Lady of Consolation, recitation of the Holy Rosary, Scripture, Homily, and Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament. In accordance with no. 68 of the Enchiridion of Indulgences, all who visit the basilica between 12:00 noon on October 3 through all of October 4 and participate in any sacred rite or recite an Our Father and Creed, may receive a plenary indulgence when fulfilling the usual conditions of Sacramental Confession, reception of Holy Communion, and prayers for the intention of the Holy Father.
