St. Rose Church, 523 N. West Street, Lima

St. Rose and St. John parishes will host a prayer service entitled "A Path Toward Justice: A National Prayer Service Honoring the Many Journeys that Shaped America" on Tuesday, June 30, 7 pm, at St. Rose Church, 523 N. West Street, Lima. The event is free and open to the public.

Inspired by the Gospel call to welcome the stranger and uphold the dignity of every human person, this prayer service seeks "to provide a sacred space for reflection, remembrance, lament, and hope. Through Scripture, ritual prayer, music, and communal reflection, participants are invited to encounter one another as members of the one human family and the one Body of Christ." It was developed by the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops in observance of the 250th anniversary of the United States, and has been adapted as an interdenominational event.

All are welcome to attend the half-hour program of prayer, music, and commemoration. From 6 to 7 pm on June 30, attendees will also have the opportunity to view a banner exhibit, Immigration: An American Story, created by the Gilder-Lehrman Institute of American History, on loan from the Auglaize County Historical Society.
