The Diocesan Track and Field Championship was first held in 1951 at the Lucas County Recreation Center and was organized by Monsignor Jerome Schmit and Paul Johnson. During the 1990s, the meet was relocated to Bowling Green High School and was subsequently hosted for several years at Toledo Central Catholic High School.
In 2007, the meet was moved to Sylvania Southview High School due to stadium renovations at Central Catholic High School. In the years following, the championship was hosted at various times by both Central Catholic High School and Bowling Green High School.
