Purpose:

The Breakfast and Lunchroom Monitor helps provide a safe, respectful, orderly, and welcoming environment for all students while modeling the values and mission of our school.

Breakfast Duties

Arrive before students enter the breakfast area. (7:15, clock out when breakfast is done)
Make sure tables, walkways, and exits are clear and safe.
Greet students warmly as they arrive.
Encourage students to begin their day with kindness and respectful behavior.
Actively supervise students throughout breakfast.
Assist younger students with opening food or containers as needed.
Monitor appropriate voice levels and table manners.
Ensure students remain seated while eating unless given permission to get up.
Watch for food allergies and discourage students from sharing food.
Make sure students clean their eating area and properly dispose of trash.
Report behavior, safety, or student concerns to the appropriate staff member.

Lunch Duties

Be in the lunchroom and ready before students arrive.(10:50, clock out when done)
Greet students in a friendly and welcoming manner.
Help students settle into assigned seats or areas.
Actively supervise by walking throughout the lunchroom.
Encourage appropriate table manners and respectful conversation.
Monitor voice levels and remind students of expectations when needed.
Ensure students remain seated unless given permission to get up.
Assist younger students with opening food or containers when needed.
Watch for food allergies and discourage students from sharing food.
Make sure students clean their eating area and properly dispose of trash.
Monitor for running, throwing food, pushing, horseplay, or other unsafe behavior.
Encourage students to include others and treat classmates with kindness.
Address teasing, bullying, disrespectful language, or inappropriate behavior immediately.
Use calm, respectful redirection and follow school discipline procedures.
Refer repeated or serious behavior concerns to the appropriate teacher or administrator.

Cleaning Duties

Sweep floors (including the steps and ramps) after every breakfast and lunch.
Mop under tables every day with fresh mop water..
Bathrooms need to be cleaned and mopped every day after lunch.
All surfaces need to be disinfected after breakfast and lunch.
Garbage needs to be taken out of the cans and put by the outside doors. If Chuck is not here, bags need to be taken out to the dumpster.

Safety & Emergencies

Never leave students unsupervised.
Know the location of emergency exits and follow school emergency procedures.
Immediately report injuries, choking, allergic reactions, or other medical concerns.
Follow procedures for fire drills, lockdowns, severe weather, and other emergencies.
Contact the school office or administrator whenever additional assistance is needed.
Maintain student confidentiality and discuss concerns only with appropriate school personnel.
